We are absolutely thrilled to have reached our goal to purchase a new shed to house our long term residents. This will enable us to give them a bright, light and airy place to call home. We are purchasing 6ft hutches for these special piggies and we are hoping to have the shed heated and air conditioned.

Many of our long term residents are with us due to terminal illness or ongoing medical conditions. The new shed will give these piggies a cozy environment to live out the rest of their lives in, and it will free some space previously taken by these piggies to enable us to help more piggies in desperate need of a safe place.

We have some exciting plans for 2012 regarding our new hospital wing, we have used the donations that we have kindly received in 2011 to purchase thick flooring for the shed which is easily cleaned to avoid infection. We have put the remainder of the funds towards the homes to go inside the shed. We have decided to purchase a block of 3 6ft hutches which will house 3 pairs of our long term residents, and then we are planning on constructing a large, luxury pen for the mini herd of old piggies. We are using the funds already raised for the pen and we are now fundraising for the block of 3 hutches, our goal is £350.

As a rescue we are completely voluntary, with no funding at all, so we rely on the help of like minded, kind hearted people just like those who have supported us so far. It costs us considerably to feed and house the piggies, heating bills, day to day bills and necessary veterinary bills. We do all the fundraising ourselves and we try to keep our projects manageable and realistic. We aim for one goal at a time, however long it takes, we feel it is much more important to us as a rescue to put our biggest efforts into caring for the piggies and ensuring that they have the best care and the very best new homes. Milhaven piggies always come first and we take great pride in the beautiful guinea pigs re rehome.
